Dear Sri Ravishankar
ReplyDeleteThank you for an excellent coverage of Tiruvaiyaru Temple.
I would request for a small clarification. You had given picture of Bhairavar in the koshtam.Have you got any refernce regarding Bhairavar in this temple? Is this Vatuka Bhairavar ?
There is a composition of Muthuswamy Dikhsitar Sri vatuka Natham in ragam devakriya.
This is attributed to Tiruvaiyaru temple , but there is no internal evidence in the song itself.
Is the Bhairavar sannidhi very famous? have you got any refernce or information on this.
I would appreciate if you could call me 98408 12435 so that I could explain the background of this query
Thanks
S.Srinivasan
The bhairavar was looking like an afterthought addition and was garishly painted more a terracota image than a stone carving like the other images. So I am not sure if it is the Bhairavar you are refering to
